Diana Shipwreck

Schooner 103 tons. Built in Sydney 1847 and registered in Melbourne (2/1849), she was wrecked on Fairfax Island (middle island - Bunker group) while loading guano. The wreck was sighted by SS Boomerang in August 1864. Part of the wreck had been salvaged and hauled onto one of the islands and the wreck had broken into two parts with many timbers strewn about on the reef. There is evidence of guano miners' camp on the island.
