Marina Shipwreck

When Wrecked: 5 October 1859

Location: Southern

Barque 529 tons. The Marina was grounded on the Barrier Reef and abandoned by her crew, who eventually reached Port Curtis. Some time later, the Sapphire was also wrecked in the same vicinity. The crew (in boats) eventually came across the Marina and, deciding the vessel was seaworthy, proceeded in her to Port Curtis. The Marina later left Port Curtis for Sydney in company with Tom Tough. Off Cape Moreton, her seams opened up and she started to sink. Tom Tough took off her crew and set fire to the Marina, standing by until she sank.
