Location: Moreton Bay & Islands

Barque 132 tons. She was a migrant ship from Hamburg with 300 passengers. The Aurora ran ashore while attempting to enter the harbour at Brisbane by the South Channel. Apparently, she did not carry charts of the entrance and when her signals for assistance went unanswered, her master decided to enter unaided. She went ashore on the seaward side of the south end of Moreton Island, standing upright and easily accssible at low tide, being dry at the bow. All the passengers disembarked without incident but the vessel eventually broke up.
