MAAQ members come from all walks of life but have a common interest in the maritime history of Australia.

MAAQ is a scientific organisation and not a social dive club. Although many of MAAQ’s members are qualified scuba divers, it is not a pre-requisite for participation in the organisation’s activities.               

Members actively promote the distribution of knowledge relating to Australia’s maritime history.   

Activities include assisting in the location, recording, protection and conservation of 
maritime archaeological sites and remains.
